C-16-06. A Young Firefighter

DescriptionBackground: In Belarus the number of accidents involving children left at home without adult supervision increases during summer and autumn period.

Goal: To inform and warn parents that leaving their children home alone is very dangerous.

Target audience: Parents of preschool and school-aged children.

Project task: To raise maximum awareness among parents about the possibility of fire.

Solution: Demonstrate clearly that leaving children unsupervised, you should be ready for the fire.

Realization:
We have placed in stores (in children's wear departments) professional child-size uniforms of firefighters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Next to the uniforms we have placed the following notice:
“For the children left without adult supervision”.
Under that notice an inscription was placed:
“In 2011 264 fires occurred in the Republic of Belarus caused by children`s mischief”.

Results:
1. The distribution took place in more than 50 towns, more than a hundred trade outlets.
2. We have managed to deliver targeted key message to the target audience as the project took place during the pre-school purchases season.
3. The information about the project was placed for free in more than 50 mass-media editions and was also rapidly spread through social networks.
4. Reports on the project were broadcasted on five TV channels in the news bulletins during the day.
5. The number of contacts is more than 3 million.
